Celebrating the Feast of Saint Augustine Through Service
BACOLOD - The Student Council of La Consolacion College Bacolod’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Interior Design (SARFAID) organized an Outreach Program on August 28, 2026, at the College Building Atrium in celebration of the Feast of Saint Augustine. The activity brought together the dean, faculty members, council and club officers, and kindergarten pupils for a morning centered on fellowship, creativity, and community engagement. Through the outreach initiative, the student leaders were able to celebrate the occasion by spending meaningful time with the children and creating an environment where everyone could participate and enjoy the activities.
Fun Activities Bring Students and Children Together
The program opened with preliminary activities led by hosts Giaour Cordova and Jock Livingston, beginning with an opening prayer and followed by opening remarks from SARFAID Governor Zenjhay Mercado. Mercado expressed the council’s happiness in spending the day with the children and shared that various activities, games, and surprises had been prepared for the participants. An energizer led by Avril Ros Reyes, Cliff Lozada, and their team encouraged the children to actively participate, while Cordova and Livingston later hosted a storytelling and interactive activity. The pupils also enjoyed a coloring activity facilitated by club representatives, giving them an opportunity to express their creativity and interact with the participating student leaders.
Fostering Community Engagement Through Giving
The outreach program concluded with the distribution of giveaways coordinated by the participating clubs, adding another meaningful element to the celebration. More than simply providing entertainment, the activity demonstrated the SARFAID Council’s commitment to community engagement and service through direct interaction with younger members of the community. The Arfien Council used the Feast of Saint Augustine as an opportunity to promote fellowship, generosity, creativity, and compassion. Through activities such as the outreach program, student organizations can strengthen their connection with the wider community while encouraging young people to take an active role in service and giving.
