Powdery Sands and Turquoise Tides: Your Ultimate Guide to Basdaku Beach

Basdaku Beach in Moalboal, Cebu, is a famous white-sand destination offering affordable day-use activities, excellent snorkeling opportunities, and a vibrant coastal atmosphere for all types of travelers.

Cebu — Basdaku Beach, fondly known as "White Beach," stands as the crown jewel of Moalboal, Cebu, located in the charming Barangay Saavedra. Renowned for its expansive stretch of powdery white sand, the beach offers a perfect escape for travelers seeking pristine turquoise waters and some of the most stunning sunset views on the island. Whether you are planning a relaxed family picnic or an adventurous day of snorkeling, this popular public beach remains one of the most accessible and beloved seaside destinations in the province.

    Navigating Fees and Beach Amenities

Visiting Basdaku is budget-friendly, though guests should be prepared to settle a few minimal local and environmental fees upon arrival. The entrance fee typically ranges from ₱10 to ₱20 per person, supplemented by a ₱25 environmental fee. For those driving, parking costs are set at ₱20 for motorcycles and ₱50 for cars or vans. If you plan on staying for the day, cottage rentals are available throughout the area, ranging from ₱300 to ₱2,500 depending on the size and the specific resort property. Additionally, public restrooms and rinse showers are easily accessible, with usage fees usually between ₱10 and ₱40.

    How to Reach the Shore

Located approximately 6 kilometers from the Moalboal town center, the beach is easy to find whether you are commuting or driving. If you are traveling by public transport from Cebu City, catch a Ceres bus bound for "Bato via Barili" at the Cebu South Bus Terminal, which costs around ₱210 for an air-conditioned ride. Once you arrive at the town proper near Gaisano Mall, you can hire a local tricycle for a full ride costing between ₱150 and ₱300, or opt for a habal-habal motorcycle taxi for ₱50 to ₱100 per person. For those with a private vehicle, simply route through Waze or Google Maps for a direct drive south from the city, where you will find ample paid parking spaces near the beach entrance.

Essential Tips for a Smooth Trip

To make the most of your visit, it is vital to keep a few local guidelines and natural factors in mind. Because ATMs are scarce near the shoreline, ensure you carry enough cash for your food, rentals, and transport costs. For water lovers, remember to bring your own snorkeling gear, as a vibrant coral reef lies just 30 meters off the shore, teeming with diverse marine life. Please note that setting up private tents or camping directly on the beachfront is currently restricted by local management. Finally, plan your swimming for high tide, as the shoreline can become somewhat rocky and stony during low tide periods.
