The Provincial Government of Negros Oriental has stepped up its efforts to protect local crops and support farmers following the spread of the Red-Striped Soft Scale Insect (RSSI) in agricultural areas across the province.
Pest Control Chemicals Distributed to All LGUs
On August 10, 2026, the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, under the leadership of Governor Manuel “Chaco” L. Sagarbarria, conducted a ceremonial turnover of pest control chemicals to all Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province. The initiative aims to strengthen local efforts against RSSI infestation and provide agricultural offices with additional resources to help address the threat affecting crops.
Coordinated Effort Across Negros Oriental
The turnover brought together provincial officials, agricultural authorities, and representatives from various municipalities and cities. Among those present were Board Member Woodrow S. Maquiling Sr., Provincial Agriculturist Emmanuel A. Caduyac, PSWDO Head Hillton Edrial, and municipal and city agriculturists from different LGUs. Their participation highlights the importance of coordination between the provincial government and local agriculture offices in responding to agricultural concerns.
