Imus is witnessing the first physical signs of the massive PHP1.87-billion Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System, a project that promises to revolutionize commuting in the province . The terminal on Imus Boulevard, positioned directly across from the New Imus City Hall in Barangay Malagasang 1-G, represents the project's shift from planning to reality. This development is a cornerstone of a 30-year partnership between the Provincial Government of Cavite, Megawide Construction Corporation, and Maplecrest Group, designed to bring a modern and efficient public transport network to the province's congested corridors .
The system's impact is already being felt with the start of its initial point-to-point (P2P) operations. Currently, a direct route is servicing commuters between Imus and One Ayala in Makati, providing a vital link for Cavite residents working in Metro Manila's central business district . This initial service is estimated to serve around 5,000 passengers daily, addressing the immediate need for transit options and offering a preview of the speed and convenience the full system will provide.
A Phased Approach to Transforming Regional Mobility
Imus is positioned as a central hub in the project's larger vision. The completed BRT will feature a 42-kilometer alignment with 37 stations and three major terminals, creating a dedicated bus lane network that bypasses standard traffic . The full route will link key points from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) through Kawit, Imus, General Trias, Tanza, and Trece Martires . Phase 1, which includes the terminal in Imus, is targeted for full loop completion, directly linking to PITX and the Lancaster New City township . A 10-year master plan for Phase 2 will further extend the system deep into the New Government Center of Cavite, solidifying the project's long-term role in the region's development.
