TAGUIG CITY — The city that already gave Metro Manila its most walkable business district has now put 500 free bicycles on its streets. On May 25, 2026, Taguig launched "Padyak Taguig," a bike‑share program that deployed 500 bicycles across 50 stations in Bonifacio Global City, Pembo, and surrounding barangays. Residents and tourists alike can unlock a bike using a mobile app and ride free for up to one hour.
The program is designed to make short trips—from a café to a park, from a condo to a meeting—effortless and emission‑free. After the first hour, a nominal fee applies, but the majority of trips are expected to stay within the free window. The stations are strategically placed near transport hubs, residential areas, and tourist attractions, ensuring that a bike is always within reach.
A Tourist's New Favorite Way to Explore
For visitors, Padyak Taguig transforms the city into an open‑air museum. A tourist can now cycle from the BGC Art Walk along 5th Avenue to the Mitsukoshi Mall, then pedal to the new BGC Greenway Park without waiting for a taxi. The free hour is generous enough to cover multiple stops, making sightseeing both active and affordable.
The program also connects tourists to areas beyond BGC. Stations in Pembo and surrounding barangays open up a more authentic side of Taguig, where local eateries, public markets, and heritage sites await. This integration of formal and informal tourism experiences is precisely what modern travelers seek, and Padyak Taguig delivers it on two wheels.
A Greener, More Connected City
Padyak Taguig is not an isolated initiative. It follows the city's active mobility push, including the 11‑kilometer bike lane network completed in February under the Department of Transportation's program. The BGC Greenway Park, a 1.2‑kilometer elevated linear park that opened just days before the bike launch, further expands the safe, car‑free paths available to cyclists.
The environmental impact is immediate. Each bicycle trip replaces a car or tricycle ride, cutting emissions and easing road congestion. For a city that has positioned itself as a model of sustainable urban development, Padyak Taguig is both a practical tool and a statement of intent. Taguig is choosing to move people differently.
