A Morning Parade for the People Behind Public Service
OZAMIZ CITY - The streets of Ozamiz City became the setting for the opening of Civil Service Month 2026 as government employees and public servants gathered for a citywide parade on September 1. Participants started at OsRox Park and made their way to the City Hall Grounds, turning an ordinary workday into a public occasion dedicated to government service. The activity brought together employees of the Local Government Unit of Ozamiz, representatives of national government agencies, and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. Mayor Sam Norman Go Fuentes and Vice Mayor Simplicia Neri joined the gathering, along with other city officials and participating government workers.
From the Streets to City Hall
After the parade, the participants proceeded to the City Hall Grounds for the opening program that formally began Ozamiz City's month-long observance. The celebration carries the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the same theme adopted for the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary nationwide. The Civil Service Commission says the 2026 observance is designed to recognize more than two million government workers while highlighting wellness, camaraderie, and excellence in public service. For Ozamiz, the opening activity gave those national values a local setting, with employees from different offices gathering together rather than marking the occasion separately.
A Month to Recognize the Everyday Work of Government Employees
Civil Service Month provides an opportunity to look beyond government offices and recognize the people who keep public services moving each day. In Ozamiz City, the opening parade placed employees from different government institutions side by side and began a series of activities planned for the September celebration.
