DAVAO CITY — A groundbreaking initiative has equipped around 60 Filipino university educators with cutting-edge blockchain expertise, setting the stage for a massive ripple effect in classrooms across Mindanao and beyond.
A Historic Gathering of Academic Minds
The five-day program, titled Blockchain Workshop: Empowering Educators in the Philippines, ran from May 18 to 23 and was sponsored by MEXC Foundation as an Ecosystem Builder. It drew faculty members from eight higher education institutions spanning the Davao Region and Central Mindanao.
Participating schools included Central Mindanao University, University of Southern Mindanao, Davao del Sur State College, Cor Jesu College of Digos City, Immaculate Conception University, Assumption College of Davao, Davao del Norte State College, and Mindanao State University. The diverse representation underscored a shared commitment to future-proofing the region's academic workforce.
Curriculum Meets Real-World Application
Organized by Davao DeFi Community alongside Lisk, ETH Philippines, and Indonesia's Pelita Bangsa Academy, the workshop covered foundational blockchain concepts, smart contracts, artificial intelligence applications, and cybersecurity essentials. Each session aimed to demystify complex topics.
MEXC Foundation's involvement went far beyond financial sponsorship. The foundation contributed a dedicated technical module and participated in hands-on laboratory sessions where educators built blockchain applications grounded in real-world scenarios. This curriculum-level integration ensured lasting pedagogical value.
Building a Multiplier Effect
The strategic decision to train university educators—rather than students directly—promises an exponential impact. Every faculty member who completed the program now carries blockchain literacy back into their own lecture halls and laboratory sessions across multiple semesters.
Collectively, these 60 empowered educators are expected to reach thousands of Filipino students over upcoming academic cycles. The initiative also formalized MEXC Foundation's partnership with the Davao DeFi Consortium through a signed Memorandum of Agreement, cementing a long-term collaborative framework with local academic and industry stakeholders.
Positioning Davao as a Web3 Education Hub
The workshop aligns seamlessly with Davao City's broader push toward blockchain adoption. Local universities are already preparing to issue on-chain academic transcripts, while the city government continues expanding its blockchain-integrated DCitizen ID system. This convergence of grassroots education and institutional deployment creates fertile ground for innovation.
MEXC Foundation's commitment forms part of a larger Philippines campus series that earlier brought Web3 career pathways to over 200 university students in Cavite. By investing in educators, the foundation signals that sustainable digital transformation begins with those who shape young minds daily.
