BUTUAN CITY — In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month 2026, the City Government of Butuan, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department, in partnership with the Department of Education Caraga Region, has launched the Batang ALIMAT program. The initiative aims to equip young students with essential disaster preparedness skills, teaching them the proper actions to take before, during, and after a disaster while developing their knowledge of climate resilience and emergency response .
Interactive Learning and Hands-On Demonstrations
The program features interactive discussions, demonstrations of rescue equipment, and information booths from various government agencies, including the Office of the Civil Defense Caraga . These exhibits showcase the equipment and services available during emergencies, giving students a practical understanding of disaster response operations. The program is designed to build a culture of preparedness among the youth, ensuring they are ready to assist their families, schools, and communities in times of crisis.
