MAKATI CITY — The local government of Makati, in partnership with the Department of Health, will offer free cervical and breast cancer screenings on May 20, 2026, at the Barangay San Antonio Multipurpose Hall. The initiative, which runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a first‑come, first‑served basis, targets women aged 35 to 60. Around 130 clients are expected to be accommodated, with no requirements needed. The program aims to detect cancer early and improve long‑term health outcomes for female residents in observance of Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month.
Comprehensive Services for Women’s Health
In addition to the screenings, the activity provides free counseling and patient navigation services. The city government encouraged female residents to participate and take advantage of the services, noting that early screening remains a vital step in saving lives and ensuring long‑term wellness. The screenings are held in line with Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month, a national observance that reinforces the importance of preventive healthcare for women.
A Collaborative Effort with the DOH
The event is organized in collaboration with the Department of Health under the “Workplace Mentoring Session for Cervical Cancer Screening Implementation”. The partnership underscores the shared commitment of the LGU and the national government to improve access to preventive healthcare, particularly for women, and to reduce the incidence and mortality of these common cancers through early detection.
