Chooks-to-Go was launched in 2008 by Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI), a poultry company established in 1997. BAVI, originally a raw poultry supplier, moved into retail roast chicken when cheaper imports threatened its traditional business. The name combines the Australian colloquial term for chicken with "to-go" to reflect its take-out format.
