Denny's began as a donut shop named Danny's Donuts, which was turned into Danny's Coffee Shop in 1956. In 1959 it was renamed Denny's Coffee Shop to avoid confusion with Coffee Dan's, and in 1961 it became simply Denny's. In the Philippines it serves American diner favorites together with classic Filipino dishes.
