Additional Funding Brings Hospital Closer to Completion
BACOLOD - The Bacolod City Government is preparing to receive PHP99 million in additional funding for the completion of the Bacolod City General Hospital (BCGH) in Barangay Vista Alegre. The Department of Health-Negros Island Region will transfer the funds under its Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) included in the 2026 General Appropriations Act. The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod has authorized Mayor Greg Gasataya to sign the memorandum of agreement required for the release of the assistance.
Funds Intended for Final Construction Requirements
The approved funding originally amounts to PHP100 million, but PHP1 million will be retained for engineering and administrative overhead in accordance with applicable national government rules. This leaves a PHP99-million net amount that will be transferred to the city for the hospital project. The funding is intended to help cover remaining requirements necessary to make the building ready for use. The additional resources are particularly important as the city works toward completing various finishing components of the hospital. These may include fixtures, interior improvements, lighting, ceilings, bathrooms, tiles, and other construction requirements needed before the facility can fully operate.
Hospital Seen as Major Addition to Bacolod's Health Services
The completion of the Bacolod City General Hospital is expected to strengthen the city's public healthcare infrastructure and expand access to government medical services. Once operational, the facility could provide another important healthcare option for residents, particularly those who depend on publicly funded medical services. The project also reflects continued cooperation between the national government and Bacolod City in developing essential public infrastructure. With the additional PHP99-million funding now being prepared for release, the city has another significant resource to help move the hospital toward completion and eventual service to the community.
