A New Viewing Area for MassKara Spectators
BACOLOD - Bacolod City is preparing seating areas at the Reclamation Area between the bridgeways of SM City Bacolod for spectators of the Streetdance and Arena Dance Competition during MassKara Festival 2026. The decision is intended to provide audiences with a more suitable location to watch one of the festival's major attractions. Mayor Greg Gasataya explained that portions of the Paglaum Sports Complex, particularly its grandstand, have been identified as posing safety concerns for spectators if the event were held there. With the Reclamation Area located near the public plaza, the new arrangement is expected to give festivalgoers another accessible place to enjoy the performances.
Keeping the Streetdance Route Part of the Celebration
While the arena component will be held at the Reclamation Area, the established route for the Streetdance Competition will remain part of the MassKara festivities. This allows the street performances to continue bringing dancers, performers, and spectators together along the city's streets while the arena competition takes place in a designated viewing area. The arrangement reflects the city's effort to balance the excitement of MassKara with practical considerations involving crowd management and spectator safety. Bacolod Continues Preparing Its Festival Spaces

Mayor Gasataya said the city is awaiting the final report from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) regarding the Public Plaza, where concerns including the condition of its checkered flooring still need to be addressed. Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Government Center dancing fountain is expected to be completed within September, adding another feature to the city's public landscape.
