Eight Barangays, One Unforgettable Showdown

BACOLOD - Barangay Bata, Alangilan, 10, Handumanan, 13, 6, Taculing, and Mandalagan stepped into the competition ready to make their performances count. Each group brought its own combination of movement, music, masks, costumes, and creative ideas to the festival stage. The performances gave spectators a closer look at the talent and preparation happening inside Bacolod's communities long before competition day. For the dancers and everyone working behind them, the event was the result of countless rehearsals and shared effort. The excitement on the streets showed just how much barangay participation can add to the MassKara experience.

Taculing Takes the Million-Peso Crown

When the winners were announced, Barangay Taculing emerged as the champion, taking home PHP1 million. Barangay Mandalagan finished as first runner-up with PHP500,000, while Barangay Handumanan earned second runner-up and PHP300,000. Taculing also collected several minor and special honors, including Best in Theme and Concept, Best in Music, Best in Introduction, and the Pocari Sweat Choice Award. Mandalagan earned Best in Mask and Costume, while Barangay Bata received the Most Disciplined award. The results made the competition even more memorable, with several barangays earning recognition across different categories.

More Than Prizes, It Was Bacolod Pride

The celebration extended beyond the winners, because every performance represented weeks or months of preparation involving performers, choreographers, costume and mask makers, barangay organizers, families, and supporters. Barangay Alangilan won the Merrymaking award, followed by Barangay 6 and Barangay Taculing, while Handumanan received the Casino Plus Choice Award. Together, the participants created the kind of colorful spectacle that gives MassKara its lively personality and keeps audiences watching from the streets and arena. Their work also gave families and visitors another reason to celebrate Bacolod's creativity and community spirit. With every beat, costume, and dance step, the barangays showed that MassKara is not only a festival to watch—it is a celebration people can build together.
