The Final Days Turned Up the Energy
BACOLOD - The festival reached its biggest moments during its final three days, with Electric MassKara bringing lights, music, and colorful displays to the city. The excitement continued through the Street Dance and Arena Competition, where school and barangay performers transformed their preparations into high-energy performances. Dancers, choreographers, costume makers, organizers, families, and supporters all played a part in creating the spectacle. For spectators, it was more than watching a competition—it was an opportunity to see Bacolod's creativity come alive in the streets and performance areas.
Taculing Finally Gets Its Moment
One of the biggest stories of the celebration came from the Barangay Category, where Barangay Taculing captured the championship and took home PHP1 million. The victory was especially meaningful after the barangay waited 16 years for another championship title. The preparation also showed the scale of effort behind a major MassKara performance, with the barangay reportedly spending around PHP3 million, supported by city subsidy, barangay funds, and private sponsors. The achievement showed how much determination, teamwork, and community support can go into a single festival performance.
A Festival Built on Smiles and Resilience
Beyond the competitions and prizes, MassKara 2026 once again highlighted the character of Bacolod's communities. The festival's message of resilience and hope gave the celebrations a deeper meaning, reminding people that the City's Smiles identity comes not only from its masks but also from how its people respond to difficult moments. As the music fades and the festival grounds return to their everyday rhythm, the memories remain—with performers proud of what they achieved, communities celebrating their efforts, and visitors carrying home another colorful experience of Bacolod. The 2026 celebration may be over, but the spirit behind the smiles continues.
