Strengthening Planning Through Science and Data
BACOLOD - Bacolod City is taking steps toward more data-driven and climate-responsive urban planning through the Urban-Act Knowledge Handover held on September 1–2. Mayor Greg Gasataya, together with Vice Mayor Claudio “Kalaw” Puentevella and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, received planning toolkits, policy briefs, and climate risk assessment reports designed to help the city better understand and respond to the effects of climate change. The initiative provides local planners and policymakers with additional scientific information that can support more informed decisions for the city's future development.
Preparing Bacolod for Climate and Environmental Challenges
The new planning resources are expected to help Bacolod address challenges such as flooding, rising temperatures, air pollution, and other climate-related risks. By incorporating scientific data and climate risk assessments into development planning, the city can strengthen important planning instruments, including the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Comprehensive Development Plan, and Local Public Transport Route Plan. The information can also support climate-resilient urban development and improve the city's approach to air quality and environmental monitoring.
