BACOLOD - MassKara has long been associated with masks, dancing, music, and Bacolod's festive identity, but Plaza de MassKara gives those ideas a physical setting that visitors can experience outside the festival season. According to the Daily Guardian, the 4,100-square-meter plaza was designed as a tribute to the MassKara Festival and is situated within the Upper East township. The space includes elements inspired by the festival rather than simply displaying a traditional monument. That makes it an interesting example of how cultural identity can become part of the design of a modern urban district.
Culture Meets the New Bacolod Lifestyle
The plaza also fits into the changing character of Upper East, where residential, hospitality, commercial, and leisure components are being developed together. Its location in front of The Kingsford gives the area another public-facing feature that can complement hotels, restaurants, offices, and other establishments as the township develops. For residents and visitors, spaces like this can provide places to walk, take photographs, meet friends, or simply spend time outside commercial interiors. It is a different kind of attraction from a conventional tourist site because its value comes partly from becoming part of everyday city life.
A New Landmark for Bacolod's Growing East Side
