OTON, ILOILO — The Oton Local Youth Development Council, under the office of Mayor Sofronio L. Fusin Jr., successfully staged the O-Town Hip Hop Showdown on September 12, 2026. Held at the Oton Amphitheater Green, the event formed part of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 and International Youth Day celebrations.
A Celebration of Youth Talent
The competition brought together young dancers from Oton and various secondary schools, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and passion for hip hop. The amphitheater buzzed with energy as participants delivered powerful performances that reflected hours of practice and dedication.
Organized in partnership with Ugyon Youth Organization, Inc., the event provided a safe and vibrant platform for self-expression. It highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and giving the youth a space to shine. The audience cheered enthusiastically for every crew that took the stage.
Winners Take the Stage
K-Dansen from Oton National High School Seniors emerged as champion, impressing judges with their synchronization and stage presence. NOCTRA from Botong Cabanbanan National High School claimed first runner-up, while Oton National High School Juniors secured second runner-up. Maliwanag Dance Company from Cambitu National High School rounded out the winners as third runner-up.
Each winning group demonstrated exceptional skill and coordination. Their performances reflected not only technical prowess but also the discipline and camaraderie that hip hop culture fosters. The competition gave young dancers a chance to express themselves while building confidence.
Recognizing Young Leaders
The celebration also featured the Awarding of the Oton Boy and Girl Officials 2026. Young Mayor Joemele Ciandel B. Panaguiton and Young Vice Mayor Talitha Noreen Arabe delivered messages on behalf of the young officials. Their words inspired fellow youth to take active roles in community affairs.
Executive Assistant II Juan Miguel Flores delivered the welcome message on behalf of Mayor Fusin. He commended the participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue pursuing their passions. His presence underscored the local government's support for youth development.
