More than 600 young participants came together at the Lakeshore Activity Center in Taguig on September 6, 2026, for the Youth X Health Run, an activity held as part of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026. Organized by the Local Youth Development Office in partnership with the City Health Office and City Nutrition Office, the event combined physical activity with health education, giving young people a fun and interactive way to learn more about taking care of their bodies and minds.
More Than Just a Fun Run
After completing the run, participants received booklets that gave them access to 10 health booths, where they completed activities, earned tokens, and received practical information and guidance from city personnel. The booths focused on Tobacco and Vape Control, Substance Use Prevention and Treatment, Road Safety and Alcohol Harms Prevention, Women’s Health, Adolescent Health and Development, Mental Health, Nutrition, STI/HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control, Blood Health, and Primary Eye Care.
The activity aimed to help young people become more informed about their health, encourage healthy lifestyle choices, increase awareness of important health risks, and give them access to reliable information and resources that can help them make better decisions for their present and future well-being.
Learning Through Interactive Activities
Rather than simply listening to lectures, participants learned through hands-on activities at the different booths. Topics ranged from mental and adolescent health to nutrition, substance use, smoking, HIV and STI prevention, and other concerns affecting young people.
The Primary Eye Care booth was also among the memorable stops for participants. Ann Lorraine Aguilar, 24, of Barangay North Daanghari, shared that the experience helped her better appreciate the challenges faced by people with visual impairments.
Supporting a Healthier Youth
Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the importance of providing young people with reliable health information, noting that proper knowledge can help prepare them for future challenges and opportunities. With hundreds of participants taking part, the Youth X Health Run demonstrated how exercise, education, and community support can come together to promote a healthier and more informed generation of Taguig youth.
