Bohol — The Municipality of Sevilla, Bohol, is making significant strides in its local development agenda as six key infrastructure projects funded through the Local Government Support Fund-Retooled Community Support Program-Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-RCSP-SBDP) are now nearing completion. The town received a P40 million allocation in March 2026 to execute these vital improvements, which are designed to enhance connectivity and social services across several barangays. These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to delivering essential infrastructure directly to residents and fostering long-term community resilience.
Connecting Communities Through Better Roads
At the core of Sevilla's current development efforts are road improvements aimed at providing farmers and residents with safer, more efficient access to markets and essential services. The ongoing projects cover critical sections of farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in five barangays: Bayawahan, Calingaan, Calinginan Norte, and Calinginan Sur. As of July 2026, progress varies across these sites, with the FMR at Sitio Manhag in Barangay Calinginan Norte leading the way at 85% completion, while others like the FMR in Bayawahan and the Calingaan FMR are advancing steadily at 15% and 25%, respectively. These road networks are expected to drastically reduce transport challenges and improve the overall economic connectivity of these upland communities.
Enhancing Health and Social Services
Beyond road construction, the LGSF funding is also being utilized to improve local healthcare access through the construction of a new health station in Barangay Calinginan Sur. This facility, which is currently 25% complete, represents a crucial investment in the well-being of the local population, ensuring that residents have better access to primary medical care within their own neighborhood. By integrating physical infrastructure like FMRs with social infrastructure like health stations, the town is addressing both the economic and welfare needs of its people, creating a more holistic approach to community development.
A Vision for Peace and Development
Mayor Emmanuel C. Caberte emphasized that these projects are a fundamental component of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), aiming to bring development, services, and infrastructure to areas that need them most. The strategy is built on the belief that peace and development are inextricably linked; by addressing the root causes of unrest through meaningful local projects, the municipality is working to build a stronger and more stable future. As these projects move toward final completion, they serve as a testament to the effectiveness of localized government support in transforming the lives of residents in rural areas.
