Bringing Grassroots Sports Training to Dauis
BOHOL - The 2026 Abante Grassroots Sports Clinic is coming to the Municipality of Dauis this Saturday, August 29, bringing a full day of intensive training and skills development for young athletes. From 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the clinic will feature Basketball at the Dauis Gym, Swimming at the Baywalk behind Dauis Church, Weightlifting at Jaluag Gym, Football at the Dauis Central Field starting at 6:30 AM, and Futsal at the Catarman Covered Court. The clinic is open to all children aged 8 to 12 years old, giving young participants an opportunity to explore different sports and improve their fundamental skills. Participants are encouraged to bring extra clothes, water, and food to help them stay prepared throughout the activities. The program also provides an avenue for children to discover sports that match their interests and abilities while enjoying an active and productive day.
Developing Young Athletes Through Structured Training
Spearheaded by the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) through the HANAS Program (Harnessing New and Advanced Sports Skills), the initiative strengthens grassroots sports development by providing young athletes direct access to professional trainers and structured skills training. Through organized coaching sessions, participants can develop proper techniques, discipline, teamwork, and confidence at an early age. Exposure to different sports also allows children to gain valuable experience while learning the importance of commitment and consistent practice. Bringing the clinic directly to municipalities like Dauis helps make sports development opportunities more accessible to young Boholanos outside major training centers. The program can also help identify promising young athletes who may continue developing their skills and eventually represent their communities in higher-level competitions.
Building a Stronger Sports Pathway for Boholano Youth
Under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, the PGBh continues to invest in programs aligned with the Capitol’s Strategic Governance Roadmap that nurture young talent, promote active and healthy communities, and build a stronger sports development pathway for Boholano youth. Grassroots programs such as the Abante Sports Clinic provide children with opportunities to participate in organized physical activities while encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles. Continued investment in youth sports can also strengthen the foundation for future athletes by giving them access to training, coaching, and development opportunities at an early stage. As the clinic reaches more communities across Bohol, it contributes to the province's broader efforts to create an inclusive environment where young people can develop their talents and pursue their sporting aspirations. Through sustained support for grassroots sports, Bohol continues to encourage the next generation of athletes to stay active, build confidence, and represent their communities with pride.
