A New Charging Option for Electric Vehicle Owners
BOHOL - ACMobility has launched Bohol's first public EV charging hub at the new Kia dealership in Tagbilaran City. The facility features two seven-kilowatt alternating current (AC) chargers, giving electric vehicle owners a local option for charging their vehicles. The development addresses one of the practical concerns that can influence EV adoption: knowing where to recharge while traveling or going about daily activities. Having a public charging location in the provincial capital can also help introduce more residents and visitors to electric mobility.
Improving Mobility for Residents and Visitors
Charging accessibility can play an important role in building confidence among people considering an electric vehicle. Drivers are more likely to explore EV ownership when charging locations are available along their regular routes and near destinations they frequently visit. For Bohol, improved charging access may also support visitors who want to explore the island using electric vehicles. As a tourism destination and the country's first UNESCO Global Geopark, the province has opportunities to connect transportation improvements with environmental awareness and responsible travel. The charging hub provides an additional option, although wider adoption will also depend on vehicle availability, charging coverage, travel distances, and the needs of motorists across different municipalities.
Connecting Local Progress With National EV Goals
The charging hub also forms part of the broader expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure in the Philippines. The Department of Energy has set a target of installing 7,000 EV charging points nationwide before 2028 under its Philippine EV Spine initiative. Developments such as the Tagbilaran facility can contribute to making electric mobility more accessible beyond major urban centers. As more charging locations become available, Bohol may have greater opportunities to support EV users, encourage related investments, and explore cleaner transportation options. Continued expansion to other strategic areas, together with reliable charging services and public awareness, will be important in making electric vehicles a more practical choice for the province.
