BOHOL — The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) reaffirmed its commitment to protecting local culture and supporting sustainable development through the 2nd CHARTS International Conference held in the province.

The conference was organized by CHARTS Philippines and the Bohol Island State University-College of Arts and Sciences, through the Bohol Center for Culture and Arts Development. It was held on August 6 at the Ceremonial Hall.

Culture Seen as Key to Sustainable Progress

Gov. Aris Aumentado, represented by Supervising Administrative Officer Metodio Maraguinot Jr., welcomed scholars, researchers, practitioners and students who attended the conference. The provincial government emphasized the importance of arts, heritage and culture in building meaningful and sustainable progress in communities.

The conference carried the theme, “Malungtarong Kalamboan Through the Lens of Culture, History, and Religion.”It brought together participants from different fields to discuss how culture, history and religion can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.

Research and Learning Take Center Stage

The two-day conference featured plenary sessions, workshops and research presentations designed to encourage discussions among academics, cultural workers, researchers and students.

The activities provided an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and research while exploring the connection between culture and sustainable development. The conference also highlighted the importance of preserving Bohol’s cultural heritage while finding ways to support the province’s long-term development.

Supporting Bohol’s Cultural Heritage

The initiative reflects the continued efforts of the Provincial Government of Bohol to promote cultural preservation, academic excellence and sustainable development. These efforts are aligned with the province’s Strategic Governance Roadmap and the Sustainable Development Goals of the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.

Through programs such as the CHARTS International Conference, Bohol continues to promote the value of its culture and heritage while encouraging research, education and sustainable practices that can benefit future generations.
