MAKATI CITY — A celebration of creativity, friendship, and lifelong learning took center stage at the Museo ng Makati as it opened “Begin Again: The Art of Later” on September 16, 2026. The exhibition showcased artworks by the Tuesday at Two: SanLo Seniors Art Group, a collective of senior artists from San Lorenzo Village who have gathered every Tuesday since 2023 to explore drawing and different artistic mediums. Running until September 24, the exhibition offered visitors a glimpse into the artists’ creative journeys while highlighting how new passions can emerge at any stage of life.
Where Creativity Meets Community
Beyond the artworks themselves, the exhibition told a story of discovery and companionship. The artists began exploring their creative interests later in life and transformed their weekly gatherings into an ongoing journey of experimentation and artistic growth. Their works captured their developing approaches to color, form, and drawing, emphasizing the enjoyment of creating rather than technical perfection. The sessions also helped foster a close-knit community among the artists, who encouraged and supported one another throughout their creative journey. For visitors, the exhibition provided an intimate reminder that curiosity and creativity can continue to flourish with age.
Giving Senior Artists a Place to Shine
City officials and community leaders joined the opening celebration, recognizing the artists and their contributions to Makati’s cultural landscape. The city government highlighted the value of providing senior citizens with opportunities to pursue their interests, express themselves creatively, and remain actively involved in their communities. The exhibition reflected Makati’s efforts to support programs that promote the well-being, participation, and continued development of its older residents. By placing their works in a public gallery, the city also provided senior artists with an opportunity to share their creativity while demonstrating that artistic expression has no age limit.
A Cultural Stop in Poblacion
Located along J.P. Rizal Street in Poblacion, the historic Museo ng Makati offers visitors another way to experience the city beyond its modern commercial attractions. A visit to the exhibition can easily be paired with a stroll around Poblacion, known for its heritage sites, cafes, and local character. With free admission and a limited run until September 24, “Begin Again: The Art of Later” offered residents and visitors an accessible opportunity to discover the creative side of Makati while celebrating the artistic spirit of its senior community.
