GENERAL LUNA, SIARGAO — The Local Government Unit of General Luna officially opened its 144th Annual Fiesta Celebration at the GLCES Grounds, bringing residents and visitors together for a series of activities centered on tradition, community, and innovation. The festivities began with a colorful parade featuring municipal officials and employees, national line agencies, business groups, civil society organizations, private schools, the Drum and Lyre Corps, and uniformed personnel from the PNP, AFP, PCG, BFP, and BJMP. Students, teachers, and staff from the General Luna Schools District also took part, reflecting the broad community participation that continues to shape the municipality's annual celebration.
Young Performers Bring Culture to Life
Young talents took the spotlight during the opening through the Mass Dance Contest for the Elementary Level and the Drum and Lyre Corps Competition for the Secondary Level. Their performances filled the celebration with music, movement, and school spirit while showcasing the creativity, discipline, and dedication of General Luna's students. The program also featured the announcement of the LGU's plan to allocate funds next year toward completing musical instruments for schools throughout the municipality. The initiative is intended to further support student performers and provide schools with resources for developing young talents through music and cultural activities.
Isle Ride Introduces Digital Transport Service
Adding a modern touch to the traditional celebration was the soft launch of the Isle Ride Platform, a flagship initiative under the LGU's Serbisyong TAMA Program. The digital public transportation platform aims to provide residents with a more convenient and accessible way to connect with local transport services, complementing General Luna's efforts to modernize public services. The opening also gave the community a preview of Musika Birada 2.0, with more activities scheduled throughout the fiesta. With cultural performances, community participation, and new initiatives taking part in the celebration, General Luna's 144th Annual Fiesta highlights how the municipality continues to preserve its traditions while introducing programs suited to a changing and increasingly dynamic community.
