Young Performers Take the Festival Stage
BACOLOD - The MassKara Festival 2026 is opening another opportunity for young performers in Bacolod City through its Drum and Lyre Competition. Elementary and high school Drum and Lyre Corps from across the city are encouraged to take part and showcase their musical abilities, coordinated performances, and teamwork during one of Bacolod's most anticipated annual celebrations. Drum and lyre performances require participants to combine musical timing, choreography, discipline, and coordination. For student performers, joining the competition can provide valuable experience in performing before an audience while allowing schools to demonstrate the talents and dedication of their students.
Schools Encouraged to Register Early
Interested elementary and high school Drum and Lyre Corps are required to secure and accomplish a Letter of Intent (LOI) to officially express their interest in joining the competition. Participating schools and groups are encouraged to complete the registration requirements before the announced deadline to ensure their participation in the festival activity. Completed LOIs must be personally submitted on or before August 28, 2026 to the New Bacolod Gugma Foundation Office, located at Unit G01, HI Strip 3, Villa Angela Building, Circumferential Road, Bacolod City.
Adding Youth Energy to MassKara 2026
The Drum and Lyre Competition adds another youth-centered activity to the MassKara Festival, giving students a platform to contribute their talents to the city's cultural celebration. Beyond competition, the event can strengthen camaraderie among students and encourage young people to become active participants in Bacolod's festival traditions.
