DAVAO CITY — Since its initial launch in December 2025, the Davao Interim Bus Service has successfully served 1,377,808 passengers as of September 30, 2026. This free transportation initiative was specifically developed to ease the heavy commuting burden for residents across the city.
A Milestone for Public Transport
This significant passenger volume clearly proves the immense public demand for accessible transport. The initiative provides a highly reliable alternative to traditional modes of transportation during the busiest hours of the day.
It represents a major milestone for the city's public transit system. By offering a dedicated and free service, the local government ensures that residents have a dependable way to reach their destinations without facing long delays.
Easing the Daily Commute
Operating a specialized fleet of ten 12-meter low-entry buses, the service primarily targets peak rush hours. It runs from 6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 9 PM from Monday to Saturday, with passenger volume peaking at 7 AM and 6 PM.
By running throughout the week, the buses offer a highly reliable option for both workers and students. The thoughtful low-entry design ensures that the transport remains easily accessible for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, promoting inclusive mobility for everyone.
Connecting the North and South
The South Route completely dominates ridership, accounting for a massive 56 percent of the total passenger volume. Route 103 (Toril-Roxas) and Route 403 (Mintal-Roxas) consistently record the highest number of daily passengers.
To support this heavy daily movement, 124 bus stops are strategically placed across the northern and southern corridors. This robust infrastructure guarantees safe and highly efficient loading and unloading for all commuters along the designated routes.
Free Rides for Dabawenyos
The DC Bus remains completely free for all residents. It functions as a vital sweeper transport service, seamlessly complementing the existing Peak Hours Augmentation Bus System and traditional public utility jeepneys operating in the metropolis.
Commuters can easily track their rides through convenient digital tools. By visiting the official Facebook page or the online tracker, residents can view schedules and service advisories to plan their daily journeys effectively.
A Model for Public Service
The local government's investment in this interim bus service demonstrates a highly proactive approach to urban mobility. It directly addresses the daily struggles of commuters navigating through congested city streets during peak periods.
As the city continues to grow, such complementary transport systems will be absolutely vital. The DC Bus sets a high standard for accessible, free public service that prioritizes the daily welfare of everyday citizens.
