A Dedicated Space for a Growing School

GENERAL SANTOS CITY- Bagong Silang High School was established in 2017 with 66 learners and initially lacked classrooms of its own, with classes sometimes sharing facilities with a nearby elementary school or taking place in a semi-covered court. According to reports published in October 2026, the school’s enrollment had grown to 164 students from Grades 7 to 12, increasing the need for suitable learning facilities. The newly completed classroom offers a dedicated space for students whose education is central to the school’s work in the community. Its turnover represents a practical investment in the physical environment where lessons, discussions, and school activities take place.

How UNIQLO and HOPE Foundation Came Together

The classroom was developed through UNIQLO’s “Supporting Brighter Futures Through Education” initiative in partnership with HOPE Foundation. The program links support for education with proceeds from the sale of selected AIRism products, helping fund learning spaces for communities that need them. The project also reflects a wider role for private-sector partnerships in addressing school infrastructure needs alongside the work of educators and families. As part of the initiative, UNIQLO also announced a donation of 200 AIRism shirts for students and teachers at the school.

More Room to Learn, More Opportunity to Grow

For learners, an appropriate classroom provides a setting where teaching can take place with fewer of the practical limitations associated with temporary or shared spaces. This is especially relevant for schools serving Indigenous communities, where access to adequate educational facilities can help support continued participation in schooling. The project at Bagong Silang High School adds to the range of community-focused education initiatives taking place in General Santos City. While one classroom cannot address every educational need, it provides a tangible resource for students and teachers as they continue their work toward better learning opportunities.
