ILOILO CITY — The vibrant Iloilo Arts Festival 2026 officially opened on October 23 at the La Paz Plaza and concludes its three-day run today, October 25. Under the theme "Arts in Our Plaza: Open Spaces, Shared Stories," the event transforms public areas into accessible cultural hubs.

A Canvas Under the Open Sky

The festival brings together diverse creators, featuring nine distinct art forms including architecture, cinema, dance, dramatic arts, fashion, gastronomy, literary arts, music, and visual arts. This comprehensive lineup ensures a rich, multi-sensory experience for all attendees.

A major highlight is "Art in the Park" at La Paz Plaza, located right in front of the Justice Delfin J. Jaranilla Learning Center. Entry is completely free, welcoming families and tourists to wander through vibrant outdoor exhibits daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.

The visual arts exhibit prominently features six exhibitors and 11 talented local artists, such as the Tin-ad Arts Guild. Their imaginative paintings turn the plaza into a beautiful tapestry of stories, allowing visitors to deeply connect with Ilonggo creativity and heritage.

Bringing Culture to the Community

Leny Ledesma, representing Mayor Raisa Treñas, emphasized that art does not belong solely inside traditional galleries or museums. By bringing these creative experiences to parks where families gather, the city ensures that culture remains a shared, living community experience.

Beyond the stunning visual arts, festival-goers can enjoy culinary delights from 10 mobile vendors, shop for unique local fashion, and relax to nightly band performances. Busking sessions add a melodic backdrop, creating a lively and festive atmosphere across the entire district.

Strengthening the Local Creative Economy

This extensive initiative strongly supports local artists and creative groups by providing a dedicated platform to showcase their work to a wider audience. It effectively bolsters Iloilo City's reputation as a thriving hub for arts, heritage, and cultural innovation.

The event is guided by key figures including Emmanuel Gemora of the Cultural Heritage Council and City Councilor Miguel Treñas. Their combined leadership ensures that the festival aligns perfectly with the city's broader goals of promoting tourism and sustainable cultural development.

The involvement of the SK Federation, led by Chairman Jelma Implica, alongside MICE Iloilo City Director Lea Lara, underscores a collaborative approach. Their efforts highlight the importance of engaging the youth in cultural preservation and enhancing the city's overall tourism appeal.

The Final Day to Explore

Today marks the absolute final chance to experience this vibrant celebration of Ilonggo talent. Residents and visitors are highly encouraged to visit the plaza, support local artisans, and immerse themselves in the rich creative tapestry before the festivities conclude this evening.
