ILOILO CITY — The Molo District Fiesta kicked off on July 18, 2026 under a bright, rain‑free sky, a welcome break that delighted residents and organizers alike. Mayor Raisa Treñas noted that this was the first time the opening embukada had not been drenched, setting a joyful tone for the celebrations ahead.
A Morning of Fitness and Friendly Competition
The festivities began with an early morning Fun Run that drew participants of all ages, from seasoned joggers to families pushing strollers. The event aimed to promote health and wellness while bringing the community together in a shared, active experience. The sports action continued with the launch of the district’s basketball and volleyball leagues. Mayor Treñas announced a total of ₱250,000 in championship prizes, a significant investment that underscores the city’s commitment to youth development through athletics. Teams from various barangays are already training, with the prize money serving as a powerful motivator for young athletes to showcase their skills and discipline.
A District United in Celebration
The opening program drew a broad coalition of community leaders and organizations. ABC Molo District President Kap. Lee Quimsing joined the mayor, along with city councilors Miguel Treñas, Frances Grace Parcon, Alan Zaldivar, Nene Dela Llana, and Lyndon Acap. SK Federation President Jelma Crystel Implica also attended, representing the youth who stand to benefit most from the sports initiatives.
Barangay captains, kagawads, and Sangguniang Kabataan members marched alongside the Iloilo City National High School Marching Band, whose lively music kept spirits high. The presence of the Molo District Police Office ensured a safe and orderly celebration, while groups like the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Solo Parent associations, and the CSWDO highlighted the inclusive nature of the fiesta. Every sector of the community had a place in the parade.

The fiesta is held in honor of Saint Anne, the patron saint of Molo, but Mayor Treñas emphasized that the celebration is about more than religious devotion.
