GENERAL LUNA, SIARGAO — Tucked away from the bustling streets of Siargao lies Las Barricas, a sanctuary of patience and a testament to the belief that the finest things in life are carefully aged, lovingly tended, and well worth the wait. More than just a restaurant, it is the life’s work of Don and Lud Barrica, a couple who traded comfortable lives abroad to chase a dream rooted in family, heritage, and the rich, deep flavors that only time can create. The name itself— “Barrica,” meaning “barrel” in Spanish, is both a nod to their family name and a guiding philosophy of transformation.

A Journey from a Foldable Table to a Culinary Institution

The dream of Las Barricas began humbly with a foldable table at Cloud 9, where Don sold carnitas tacos on Sundays. What started as a casual pop-up soon captured the island’s laid-back spirit, gaining loyal followers and laying the foundation for what is now a beloved dining destination. Today, Las Barricas reflects a vision of a Spanish restaurant where tapas, heirloom recipes, and fine wines come together in a space inspired by the intimate bistros of France and the vibrant tapas bars of Spain. The couple’s service philosophy combines their family’s passion for generous hosting with the refined, professional standards Lud honed during her extensive five-star airline training.

A Menu of Bold, Authentic Spanish Flavors

The menu at Las Barricas is a celebration of authentic Spanish cuisine, featuring flavorful tapas, hearty mains, and refreshing sangria. Guests rave about the well-prepared seafood and meat dishes, with standout items including the pulpo (octopus), fabada (a rich white bean stew with pork belly, bacon, and house-made chorizo picante), and the Pescado con Vino Blanco (sautéed fish in garlic, salsa, and wine). The restaurant is also known for its highly curated wine list, featuring premium imported Spanish bottles that elevate the dining experience. Operating from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, Las Barricas offers a lively atmosphere with great music and friendly, attentive service.
