TACLOBAN CITY — Bringing together nearly 150 organic agriculture practitioners, youth interns, local government officials, and partner agency representatives, the 11th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress (ROAC) officially kicked off its two-day run on October 6–7, 2026. The milestone gathering serves as a premier venue for stakeholders to exchange expertise, exhibit sustainable farm products, and chart the future of eco-friendly farming across Eastern Visayas.

Showcasing Sustainable Innovations and Market Standards

The packed two-day program features specialized technical lectures on sustainable farming practices, including the production and management of black soldier flies and stingless bees, organic pest and disease control for ube crops, and rigorous organic certification standards aligned with international markets. Participants are also taking part in an immersive farm study tour, examining local school initiatives on sustainable agriculture, and exploring the robust economic prospects of regional ube production. Alongside the learning sessions, a vibrant trade exhibit showcases organic produce and specialty goods from Participatory Guarantee System (PGS)-accredited farmer groups.

Reaffirming Institutional Commitment to Regional Growth

During the opening ceremonies, Dir. Francisco C. Rosaroso, OIC-RTD for Operations, delivered the welcome message on behalf of Regional Executive Director Rodel G. Macapañas, reaffirming the agency's steadfast dedication to sustaining and accelerating the organic sector's growth. In addition to the plenary sessions, the Regional Organic Agriculture Council is convening to deliberate and pass strategic resolutions aimed at closing industry gaps. Organizers hope the congress will empower local farmers, enhance food security, and elevate the competitiveness of organic agriculture throughout the region.
