BGC’s dining scene continues to welcome exciting Japanese concepts, and one name that has been drawing attention is Hikiniku To Come, a Tokyo-born restaurant known for its distinctive “on-the-rice” hamburg steak experience. Located at Uptown Mall, the restaurant brings together freshly ground beef, charcoal grilling, and freshly cooked Japanese rice in a dining format designed to let guests watch their meal being prepared right in front of them.

Meet Japan’s “On-the-Rice” Hamburg Concept

Hikiniku To Come was established in Japan with a simple idea: make freshly ground meat, freshly grilled hamburg, and freshly cooked rice the stars of the meal. The restaurant’s name itself translates roughly to “ground meat and rice,” reflecting its focus on these two central ingredients. Rather than serving hamburg steak as an ordinary plated dish, Hikiniku To Come presents it as an interactive experience where guests can enjoy each freshly grilled patty with hot rice.

Freshly Ground, Freshly Grilled

One of the restaurant’s biggest draws is its emphasis on freshness. According to Hikiniku To Come’s official concept, 100% beef is ground in-house every morning, then grilled over charcoal directly in front of customers. The restaurant describes this approach through its “three Just” philosophy: Just Ground, Just Grilled, and Just Cooked. This gives diners more than just a meal—it gives them the chance to see the preparation process up close.

Three Hamburg Steaks, One Satisfying Set

The signature Hikiniku To Come Set is designed around three 90-gram hamburg steaks, served one after another while they're freshly grilled. The set also comes with freshly cooked Japanese rice, miso soup, a raw egg, and different accompaniments and condiments. The restaurant's original Philippine menu was reported at ₱850 for the set, although prices and inclusions may change, so diners should check the restaurant's current menu before visiting.
