ORMOC CITY, LEYTE — Travel across Leyte is set to become smoother and significantly faster as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office advances construction on the strategic Albuera-Burauen Road, creating a direct connection between Albuera, Burauen, and Ormoc City.
Project Scope and 2026 GAA Allocation
Implemented in progressive phases, the scenic cross-mountain highway is designed to transform daily commutes and boost regional trade by linking eastern and western Leyte:
Active Construction Phase: Funded under the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA), current civil works are focused on a key 148.77-meter road section in Barangay San Pedro, Albuera, Leyte.
Structural Specifications: The ₱69.729-million project features high-standard concrete paving, lined canal drainage systems, and durable stone masonry slope protection engineered to ensure safe passage through mountainous terrain.
Implementation Timeline: Construction officially began in June 2026 under the Leyte 4th DEO and is on track for completion by March 2027.
2027 Proposed Gap Expansion: To seal the final remaining gap in the Albuera segment, DPWH has submitted a proposal to concrete an additional 121.23 meters under the 2027 infrastructure program.
