Bohol’s Economy Remains Resilient
BOHOL - Bohol highlighted its continuing economic growth during the 2026 State of the Province Address held at the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City on October 9. Despite the nationwide economic slowdown, the province maintained gross domestic product (GDP) growth above the regional average, reflecting continued economic activity and resilience. The provincial government also cited Philippine Statistics Authority data showing that Bohol’s average inflation rate reached 7.9 percent in August 2026, which was lower than the rates recorded in Cebu Province and Central Visayas. These indicators were presented as signs of the province’s ability to sustain economic momentum amid broader financial pressures.
Investments and Business Expansion Create Opportunities
The address emphasized growing investor confidence, with more investments entering the province, existing businesses expanding, and new industries emerging. These developments can create opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and livelihood improvement across Bohol. As businesses establish or expand their operations, demand may also increase for local suppliers, transportation services, commercial spaces, and other supporting industries. A favorable business environment can help encourage further private-sector participation and strengthen the province’s economic base. Continued cooperation between government and industry will be important in ensuring that investment translates into meaningful opportunities for residents and communities.
Sustaining Growth Through Inclusive Development
Bohol’s economic outlook highlights the importance of maintaining investor confidence while ensuring that growth benefits a broad range of residents. Supporting local enterprises, improving infrastructure, developing workforce skills, and encouraging new industries can help sustain economic activity and create more employment opportunities. At the same time, managing inflation and addressing the needs of households and small businesses remain important to making growth more inclusive. By building on its economic resilience and encouraging responsible investment, Bohol aims to strengthen its position as a developing economic center in Central Visayas while creating more opportunities for its people.
