DAVAO — The City Government of Tagum recognized a new batch of outstanding Tagumenyos during its Monday Convocation on September 28, 2026. The achievers brought pride to the city through victories in archery, nursing, and psychology board examinations, receiving commendations before local officials and employees.

A Champion Archer Brings Home Gold

Mateusz Vaughn Johnson emerged as the day's brightest star, earning multiple gold medals in archery competitions. He dominated the U18 Championship Men's Category in the Qualifying Round, Olympic Round, Mixed Team Event, and Team Event. He also captured gold at the 2026 Singapore Archery Open in the Olympic Round.

Johnson's performance showcased the growing strength of grassroots sports development in Tagum. His discipline and precision on the international stage reflect the city's investment in youth athletics. Local officials praised him for demonstrating that Tagumenyo talent can compete globally.

Recognizing Excellence in Healthcare

The city also honored Rnee Althea Leyrita, RN, a Tagumenyo registered nurse who successfully passed the Nurses Licensure Examination. Her achievement adds another competent professional to the country's healthcare workforce, bringing honor to her hometown and family.

Several ECESPRO scholars who passed the Psychometricians Licensure Examination were likewise formally recognized. They include Queeral Janne M. Vistal, Trishia Nicholle Taguba, Rica Tesoro, Precious Paña, and Diane Artemis Mejino, all registered psychometricians. Their success underscores the value of scholarship programs in producing licensed professionals.

City Health Office Employees Among Passers

Employees from the City Health Office Atiman Center also received recognition for passing the PMLE. The honorees were Fausto B. Torres, Queeral Janne M. Vistal, Jasper Joyce C. Chua, Mark Joseph A. Cayabyab, Rahima O. Bangasin, and Martha Lou Cris P. Camus. Their dual roles as public servants and licensed professionals earned warm applause from colleagues.

This achievement reflects the local government's commitment to continuous learning and professional growth among its workforce. By supporting employees in pursuing licensure, the city strengthens its capacity to deliver quality health and social services to constituents.

Topnotchers Receive Cash Incentives

Two Tagumenyo topnotchers were also honored and will receive cash incentives under City Ordinance No. 1007, Series of 2022. Janz Reid M. Manlanot ranked Top 7 in the Licensure Examination for Criminologists, while Kyla B. Lastimosa placed Top 8 in the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

The ordinance institutionalizes recognition and financial rewards for exceptional board performance. This policy motivates students and professionals to aim higher, knowing that the city values and supports their pursuit of excellence.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The Monday Convocation became a celebration of Tagumenyo excellence across diverse fields. From archery to nursing, psychology, criminology, and education, the honorees proved that dedication yields remarkable results. Their stories inspire young Tagumenyos to dream big and work hard.

City officials reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing talent through programs that support education, sports, and professional development. The recognition ceremony served as both a tribute and a challenge for others to follow in these achievers' footsteps.
