SILANG, CAVITE — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cavite, through Negosyo Center Silang, conducted the training "Take Control of Your Finances: A Practical Guide to Financial Management & Bookkeeping" on September 28, 2026, at the 4th Floor Function Hall of the New Silang Municipal Hall, empowering local micro, small, and medium enterprises with essential financial skills to strengthen their businesses.
Strengthening Financial Literacy for Local Entrepreneurs
NC Silang Manager Ms. Cynthia Cortez delivered the opening remarks, while Ms. Mildred Ladao served as the resource speaker. The session focused on strengthening participants' knowledge and practical skills in financial management, bookkeeping, cash flow management, and financial record-keeping. Participants learned how to properly classify income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and equity, organize financial transactions, prepare and interpret basic financial reports, monitor expenses, and develop a simple budget to support informed business decisions. The training addressed one of the most common challenges faced by micro and small business owners—maintaining accurate financial records and understanding their business's true financial position—which is essential for long-term sustainability and growth. An open forum was also conducted to reinforce learning and address participants' concerns, allowing business owners to seek clarification on specific financial issues affecting their operations.
Supporting Sustainable Business Growth in Cavite
The activity concluded with closing remarks from TIDS Mikaela Jane B. Juangco, who highlighted the importance of applying the knowledge and skills gained from the session to strengthen financial management practices and support sustainable business growth. This training reflects DTI Cavite's ongoing commitment to empowering MSMEs through capacity-building programs, following similar initiatives like "The Digital Edge: Market Smarter, Sell Better" seminar in Tanza, which taught entrepreneurs how to leverage Meta Business AI and decode Meralco bills for energy efficiency. By equipping local business owners with essential financial literacy skills, DTI Cavite and Negosyo Center Silang are helping to build a more resilient and competitive MSME sector in the province, ensuring that Cavite's entrepreneurs have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
