Different Sectors Bring Different Perspectives

BACOLOD - The CSO Caravan gathered groups representing urban poor communities, cooperatives, persons with disabilities, women, farmers, fisherfolk, vendors, youth, and other sectors. Each group experiences the city differently, which means each can bring concerns and ideas that may not always be visible from the perspective of government offices alone. Their participation creates an opportunity for local planning to consider a wider range of experiences, from livelihood and accessibility to community services and neighborhood development.

Participation Makes Planning More Connected

Civil society organizations can help connect government planning with the realities experienced by residents. When community groups are involved in discussions, they can share information from the neighborhoods and sectors they represent while also gaining a better understanding of how local programs and decisions are developed. This two-way exchange can make planning more collaborative and help communities become active partners rather than simply recipients of government services.

Bacolod's Community Network Is Already Growing

Bacolod currently has 220 accredited civil society organizations, according to the information provided by the city, supporting various sectors and participating in community initiatives. Their presence represents a broad network of residents who are already contributing to local development. As the city continues to grow, keeping these organizations involved can create more opportunities for ideas to move from communities into planning discussions. A city is shaped not only inside government offices but also by the people who live, work, organize, and contribute within its neighborhoods.
