OZAMIZ CITY - Ozamiz’s young writers continue to carry the city’s name beyond Northern Mindanao. Thirdee Angeles C. Centino of Ozamiz City National High School – District 1 has earned National 1st Runner-Up, or second place, in the 2026 CSC Tinig at Panulat Para sa Lingkod Bayani Essay Writing Competition – High School Category, according to the announcement shared by the Schools Division of Ozamiz City. The result places an Ozamiz student writer in a national spotlight, following earlier accomplishments in school and regional journalism. It adds a chapter to the city’s writing and civic expression.
From Regional Recognition to the National Stage
Centino’s result builds on a record in student journalism. DepEd Ozamiz City records identify him as an Editorial Writing participant and show his involvement in learner journalism, while an earlier division result lists him as the 2024 DSPC English secondary Editorial Writing champion under coach Rico Stephen G. Jandog. The Civil Service Commission describes Tinig at Panulat as a national platform where students reflect on public service, governance, and their hopes for the nation through original essays. Centino’s second-place finish connects writing skill with a competition centered on civic consciousness and public service.
