The Pampanga Provincial Government has allocated PHP 20 million from a larger PHP 60-million realigned budget to procure emergency response vehicles and heavy machinery, ensuring faster, more effective rescue operations and safeguarding the health of Kapampangans during calamities.
A Comprehensive Investment in Public Safety
The Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), chaired by Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda, approved the PHP 60-million realignment during its second quarterly meeting on June 18, 2026, at the Kingsborough International Convention Center in the City of San Fernando . This comprehensive funding package includes PHP 20 million specifically earmarked for the procurement of emergency response vehicles, rescue trucks, and heavy machinery needed for rapid disaster response . An additional PHP 16 million is allocated for mobile collection units as part of climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts, while PHP 15 million goes toward constructing and improving DRRM buildings and flood mitigation infrastructure.
Faster Response, Safer Communities
The investment in emergency vehicles and heavy equipment will significantly enhance the province's capacity to conduct swift and effective rescue and relief operations during typhoons, floods, and other calamities. This is crucial for preventing disaster-related diseases and ensuring that affected communities receive immediate medical attention and supplies. The council also approved the use of PHP 20 million from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Trust Fund for augmentation support to other provinces or areas hit by calamities . Governor Pineda emphasized the province's all-out commitment to preparedness, response, and assistance, citing the recent support provided after a nine-storey building collapsed in Angeles City on May 24, which included heavy equipment, cash assistance, and food supplies for affected families.
