For thousands of students in Taguig, financial assistance has become part of the journey toward completing their education. The city’s scholarship programs have expanded over the years, supporting students across different levels of education and fields of study.
As of 2026, the City of Taguig has supported more than 130,000 scholars across around 200 colleges and universities, with 6,096 graduates becoming licensed professionals, including 88 physicians. The figure reflects a scholarship system that has grown from a city program established in 2011 into a broader collection of educational assistance programs.
A Scholarship Program That Began in 2011
Taguig’s main scholarship program was established under the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Program in 2011 through City Ordinance No. 9, Series of 2011. The city says the program was created to expand access to education and help residents pursue better educational and career opportunities. The program provides assistance to qualified Taguig residents enrolled in degree or technical-vocational courses. Its scholarship classifications include Honors, Premier, Priority, Basic Plus, Basic, SUC/LCU, Review, and Lead scholarships, allowing assistance to cover different educational paths.
Different Forms of Educational Support
The scholarship system is not limited to one type of student. Under the city's current scholarship information, qualified students may receive different levels of assistance depending on their scholarship classification. Honors, Premier, and Priority scholars, for example, can receive between ₱40,000 and ₱50,000 per year, while other classifications provide varying amounts based on the student's school, course, or educational level.
The city also provides educational support through programs outside the main college scholarship system. The Taguig Learner's Certificate (TLC) program, for example, provides qualified public elementary graduates continuing to partner private high schools with tuition support and an annual educational allowance. The program also gives beneficiaries an opportunity to apply for the Taguig Scholarship once they reach college.
Support Extends Beyond College Scholarships
Taguig's education assistance also includes students at Taguig City University. Through the Taguig City University City Educational Assistance Allowance, eligible TCU students receive educational assistance intended to help with expenses such as transportation, meals, projects, and other school requirements. The city also provides a monthly allowance for TCU students. The city's official student assistance programs also include cash incentives for honor students. These incentives vary according to educational level and academic achievement, with awards available to elementary, junior high school, and senior high school students.
