ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo City Government recently showcased four major recognitions during its flag ceremony, proving that good governance is actively working for the community. These prestigious awards highlight the city's excellence in disaster resilience, business friendliness, and statistical data management.

A Sweep of Excellence

Mayor Raisa Treñas shared the achievements with city employees, emphasizing that these awards symbolize the collective commitment to deliver better services. For her, the recognitions prove that collaborative efforts create meaningful change for every Ilonggo resident.

She noted that while she accepts and defends the city's programs, the true driving force behind these milestones is the dedication of the workforce. The awards reflect a shared vision of elevating Iloilo City to the next level.

Fast-Tracking Emergency Response

The Iloilo City Action and Resilience Center received the 2026 Galing Pook Award for decentralizing risk governance. This prestigious recognition highlights the city's success in bringing emergency assistance closer to communities, significantly improving overall disaster preparedness and ensuring a highly coordinated response during critical situations.

A major accomplishment is the drastic reduction in response time, dropping from twelve minutes to just four. This improvement is vital during the Golden Hour for emergencies like heart attacks and strokes, supported by continuous simulation exercises and training for BFP, PNP, and ICER teams.

Building Resilience and Business Confidence

The city also received the first-ever Galing Pook Resilience Award, recognizing its efforts to integrate climate adaptation into governance. To ensure uninterrupted public service during crises, the local government implemented triple redundancy in its operations centers, guaranteeing reliable assistance for Ilonggos.

Furthermore, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry honored Iloilo City with the 2026 Most Business-Friendly LGU Hall of Fame Award. Winning this distinction for the third time in five years highlights the city's strong public-private partnerships and its success in attracting investments.

Through these continuous efforts, the local government aims to support local entrepreneurs and generate more livelihood opportunities. By fostering a thriving business environment, the city ensures that economic growth directly benefits families across the region.

Data-Driven Planning and Community Effort

The Philippine Statistics Authority recognized the city government for its Outstanding Statistical Data Support for the 2025 Provincial Product Accounts. The local administration underscores that reliable economic statistics are essential for evidence-based planning, allowing the city to develop better policies and deliver more effective public services.

Mayor Treñas dedicated these achievements to the people of Iloilo, thanking city employees, OCDRRMO personnel, the LEDIP Office, and various volunteers. She stressed that the ultimate reward is transforming these recognitions into safer, more resilient, and prosperous communities for all.
