ORMOC CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte 4th District Engineering Office has successfully completed two new school buildings at Liloan Central School. The newly constructed facilities aim to provide a safer, more comfortable learning environment for the growing student population.

Expanding Educational Spaces

The infrastructure package includes a four-storey building housing eight spacious classrooms and a separate one-storey structure containing two classrooms. These additional spaces directly address the school's need to accommodate its expanding enrollment effectively, ensuring that every learner has an appropriate venue for their daily classes.

These modern facilities are equipped with proper ventilation and natural lighting, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy and conducive atmosphere for learning. The improved structural design also ensures the safety and well-being of the students during their academic activities throughout the year.

Dedicated Spaces for Every Learner

The taller four-storey structure is specifically designated for the older students, accommodating all Grade 5 and Grade 6 learners. Meanwhile, the smaller two-classroom building is exclusively reserved for kindergarten pupils, providing them with an age-appropriate and secure environment as they begin their educational journey.

By separating the younger children from the larger student body, the school can better manage daily activities and maintain a focused atmosphere. This thoughtful design enhances overall campus safety and improves the learning experience for both the young children and the upper-grade students.

Aligning with National Educational Goals

The completion of these school buildings aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to address the country's persistent classroom shortage. The national government continues to prioritize education by fast-tracking the construction of necessary infrastructure in public schools across the provinces.

Furthermore, the project fulfills the commitment of DPWH Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon to accelerate the delivery of quality and safe school facilities. The Leyte 4th DEO remains dedicated to ensuring that these structures meet stringent safety standards while supporting the academic needs of the community.

A Boost for the Local Community

Local officials and school administrators welcomed the turnover of the new facilities, noting that overcrowding has been a persistent challenge. The added classrooms will significantly reduce the need to utilize makeshift spaces or hold multiple class shifts, allowing teachers to focus entirely on delivering quality instruction.

For the parents and residents of Ormoc City, the development symbolizes a renewed focus on educational excellence. Proper classrooms foster better student engagement and motivation, ultimately contributing to the overall academic performance and future success of the local youth.

The successful completion of this project highlights the vital role of public works in supporting social services. By providing adequate educational infrastructure, the government ensures that the children of Leyte have access to the resources they need to build a brighter and more prosperous future.
