Pampanga authorities have rapidly intensified campus security following recent school violence incidents, implementing mandatory bag inspections, deploying barangay watchmen, and strengthening police visibility across the province.
Police on Full Alert with Enhanced Patrols and Checkpoints
The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) has assured the public of heightened security measures across the province after recent violent incidents involving students in Cavite and Tacloban City . Police officers are now on full alert, coordinating with school administrators and implementing measures to protect learners. Colonel Ricardo David, PPO director, emphasized that the police are working closely with the Department of Education and local government units to strengthen school safety protocols and enhance emergency response . Random bag inspections and intensified patrols near schools are now part of the regular routine, backed by more than 420 police officers deployed across the region alongside 225 Police Assistance Desks established near schools . These measures aim to prevent incidents like physical assault, abduction, and theft while ensuring public safety during the school year.
Collaborative Safety Drills and Psychosocial Support
Beyond security personnel, Pampanga is taking a multi-layered approach to campus safety. Local government units are actively pushing for simulation exercises and lockdown drills to train students on emergency protocols, while municipal police stations are holding safety dialogues with the Department of Education . The provincial government is also addressing mental health concerns through the "Alagang Kabataan" council, which provides trauma management and counseling . Earlier this year, the province ordered a province-wide inspection of all schools to ensure structural integrity following recent earthquakes, with the Provincial Engineer's Office and DPWH identifying priority areas for repair . Together, these initiatives demonstrate Pampanga's commitment to protecting students through both physical security and psychosocial support.
