The Office of Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr., led by Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel, has launched emergency relief operations to preposition aid for communities ahead of Super Typhoon Bavi's entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Relief Packs Readied Ahead of Super Typhoon's Arrival
The packing of emergency relief packs began on July 7, 2026, as local officials intensified preparations ahead of Super Typhoon Bavi's expected entry into the PAR . The initiative, led by Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel, ensures that immediate aid is ready for communities once the typhoon impacts the region . Super Typhoon Bavi, which will be locally named "Inday," is forecast to enter PAR either Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning . The typhoon is currently located approximately 2,010 kilometers east of Central Luzon, with sustained winds of 195 km/h and gusts reaching up to 240 km/h.
Proactive Approach to Community Safety
The relief operations are part of a broader disaster preparedness strategy across Pampanga. San Fernando City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag has convened emergency sessions of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to finalize response plans and ensure all systems are on standby . The CDRRMO has presented Pre-Disaster Risk Assessments and impact scenarios to guide planning across critical sectors including peace and order, logistics, evacuation management, health, and search and rescue . The preemptive prepositioning of aid by Lazatin's office aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive for a whole-of-government approach, which includes securing evacuation centers, ensuring relief goods supply, and implementing preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas .
