BAGUIO CITY — The Philippine Sports Commission has unveiled a major upgrade to its National Training Center inside Teachers' Camp, transforming it into a premier multi-sport hub. A site inspection on October 13, 2026, confirmed that construction is progressing swiftly toward completion.

PSC Chairman John Patrick C. Gregorio led the inspection, joined by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and other key sports leaders. Their presence underscored the shared commitment to expanding high-altitude training facilities for national athletes while boosting local grassroots sports.

Three New Venues for Athletes

The project features three distinct facilities designed to serve different sports. An artificial football pitch is being installed by the Philippine Football Federation, which expects the field to be ready for gameplay by November. The pitch will provide a year-round surface for football training and competitions.

The MVP Sports Foundation is funding and managing two additional courts: a pickleball court and a 3x3 basketball court. These venues will cater to the growing popularity of pickleball and the fast-paced nature of 3x3 basketball, giving athletes dedicated spaces to hone their skills.

Collaboration and Construction Progress

The inspection brought together PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez and MVPSF executives, including President Atty. Bill Pamintuan and Executive Director Paolo Trillo. Their organizations are actively supporting the project, ensuring that each facility meets international standards and serves the needs of the sporting community.

The collaboration between the PSC, the Baguio City government, and private sports foundations highlights a unified approach to sports development. By pooling resources and expertise, they are creating a facility that will benefit both elite athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts.

Opening to the Public in November

Starting November 2026, the public can enjoy the new facilities inside Teachers' Camp. The upgraded hub will offer access to world-class amenities, encouraging residents and visitors to stay active and healthy. The PSC aims to make sports more accessible to everyone in the summer capital.

The artificial football pitch, pickleball court, and 3x3 basketball court will be available for various activities, from casual games to organized tournaments. This expansion is expected to draw more sports tourism to Baguio City, boosting the local economy.

A Hub for National and Grassroots Development

Once fully operational, the facility will reinforce Baguio's position as a primary hub for multi-sport athletic development. National athletes will benefit from high-altitude training, while local youth can access top-tier facilities for grassroots programs.

The project represents a significant investment in sports infrastructure. It reflects the government's commitment to fostering athletic excellence and promoting a culture of health and wellness throughout the Philippines. The new hub is poised to become a landmark for sports in the region.
