BACOLOR, PAMPANGA - The Philippine Red Cross distributed a total of 330 food packs to families affected by severe flooding in three municipalities of Pampanga on August 21, 2026, providing immediate relief to communities struggling with the aftermath of heavy rains and rising waters. The distribution, which comes as over half of the villages across Pampanga remain submerged, reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable families during the province's worst flooding crisis in recent years . Around 8,000 residents have been displaced across the region, and with relief efforts still ongoing, every pack brings much-needed sustenance to those who have lost access to food and basic supplies.
Distribution Breakdown and Affected Areas
The relief operation reached three municipalities that have been heavily impacted by the flooding. In Bacolor, 177 families received food packs at Tinajero Elementary School, an evacuation center currently sheltering displaced residents. In Sto. Tomas, 72 families at the San Vicente Evacuation Center were given relief packs, while Minalin received a total of 81 packs distributed across two locations: 39 families at the Sta. Maria Evacuation Center and 42 families at the San Isidro Evacuation Center. The widespread flooding has prompted officials to declare a state of calamity in multiple areas, as over half of Pampanga's villages remain underwater, affecting nearly one million residents and causing agricultural damage estimated at PHP 1.4 billion.
Sustained Relief Operations Across the Province
The Red Cross's latest distribution is part of a broader, sustained effort to support Pampanga's flood victims. This comes as Senator Lito Lapid also distributed relief to approximately 6,000 families across Minalin, Macabebe, Masantol, and Candaba on August 20, wading through knee-deep waters to check on residents . The Department of Education has also extended support to teachers and staff in the region affected by the typhoons . As the flooding continues to impact daily life, the Philippine Red Cross remains on the ground, coordinating with local officials to assess the ongoing needs of displaced communities.
