Turning Reliable Data Into Better Decisions
BOHOL - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bohol Provincial Statistical Office gathered stakeholders and partner agencies for the closing ceremony of the 37th National Statistics Month on October 30, 2026, at Dao Diamond Hotel and Restaurant. Anchored on the theme “Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as Beacon toward Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable Tourism,” the celebration highlighted the vital role of reliable statistics in strengthening governance, guiding development planning, and promoting sustainable tourism. The discussions emphasized that accurate and accessible information can help decision-makers understand community needs and develop more responsive programs.
Connecting Statistical Information With Community Needs
The program featured discussions on the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), poverty and economic indicators, and National ID Authentication Services. These topics demonstrated how data can help public institutions understand local conditions, identify development priorities, and improve the delivery of services. Bohol Provincial Tourism Office Head Joanne Pinat also discussed “Bohol Tourism: Beyond the Numbers,” emphasizing the importance of translating statistical information into informed decisions and concrete actions. Her presentation highlighted the need to ensure that tourism creates benefits for communities while protecting the resources that make the province a destination.
Supporting Sustainable Tourism Across Bohol
In her message, Chief Statistical Specialist Jessamyn Anne Alcazaren underscored that reliable statistics are essential to sound decision-making and policy-driven governance. The initiative supports the Provincial Government of Bohol’s Strategic Governance Roadmap by promoting data-driven planning for sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and inclusive development across the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark. By strengthening cooperation among statistical offices, government agencies, and tourism stakeholders, the province can use reliable information to guide development while considering the needs of residents, businesses, visitors, and the environment.
