Trece Martires City serves as the perfect setting for this historical showcase. While the official capital was transferred to Imus in 1977 under Presidential Decree No. 1163, the city still hosts the majority of provincial government offices, making it the de facto capital of Cavite . The Upper Ground Floor of the New Provincial Capitol provides an accessible venue for residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the province's visual history.
The gallery features historic photographs and visual archives that highlight the stories of Cavite, with displays focusing on the living culture and historical milestones of the province—known as the "Historical Capital of the Philippines." This location is particularly significant given Cavite's central role in Philippine history, from the 1898 Declaration of Independence at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit to the legacy of the Thirteen Martyrs for whom the city is named.
Celebrating "Our History Continues"
The exhibit aligns with the nationwide celebration of National History Month every August, as established by Proclamation No. 339 signed on February 16, 2012 .
