More Than a Quiz: Learning What Every Buyer Should Know
GENERAL SANTOS CITY- A price tag does not tell the whole story about a product. Buyers also need to understand product labels, safety standards, warranties, and the steps they can take when goods or services fail to meet expectations. Through the SUPER Consumer Quiz Show, students are challenged to develop knowledge that can help them recognize their rights and responsibilities in everyday transactions. The initiative connects classroom learning with decisions young consumers and their families make at stores, markets, and online shopping platforms.
Veranza Mall Becomes the Meeting Point for Student Knowledge
According to the DTI–General Santos City announcement, the competition is intended for Grades 7 to 10 students representing public and private schools in the city. Each school may designate one contestant and one coach or adviser, giving participating schools a chance to prepare a representative for the challenge. Veranza Mall in General Santos City was identified as the venue in the published announcement. The announcement also stated that cash prizes, plaques, and certificates would be awarded, while the top three contestants were set to advance to the regional quiz show scheduled for October 28, 2026, in Koronadal City.
Turning Consumer Awareness Into Everyday Confidence
Consumer education matters outside the competition room, especially when young people begin making independent purchasing decisions. Understanding product information, checking whether goods meet safety standards, comparing prices, and keeping receipts can help buyers avoid common problems and seek appropriate remedies when necessary. The Department of Trade and Industry identifies consumer education, safety, and access to reliable product information as important parts of consumer protection. By bringing these subjects into a student competition, the Gensan SUPER Consumer Quiz Show offers a practical way to encourage informed buying habits among the next generation of consumers.
